Boogie-A-Thon: We have been working had on learning some special dances for the upcoming dance fundraiser (the chicken dance, a greek dance and many more!). Please promote this excellent opportunity for the children. They are having a great time practicing dances and are encouraged to raise money for the school. A reminder to send money in as it is collected to enable us to count the money (and pass out raffle tickets) slowly.
Water Bottle: Please send your child with a refillable water bottle in their lunch each day. For supervision reasons we prefer they have a bottle in the classroom when thirsty then going to the water fountain in the hall.
Co-op Student: We are fortunate enough to have a high school co-op student, Miss Harris, joining our classroom this semester. She will be coming in the afternoons to help out with the class, the children are very excited to have her around.
Winterfest: Due to the cold weather, Winterfest has been rescheduled for Thursday March 6th. We will be outside for an extra hour in the morning on that day so please send you child dressed warmly and with extra dry clothes.

Thursday
SK Home Reading: I hope you all had a wonderful family day weekend. Mrs. Martherus and I will be away at a professional development activity on Thursday so home reading books for the sks will be exchanged Friday.
Red and White Day: Thursday will also be a Red and White spirit day to support our Olympic Teams that are competing tomorrow so help your child dress in some patriotic colours!
Sight Words for February : You may have noticed that we do not have any new sight words on the calendar this month. We are taking this month to review and spend and little more time on some of the words that we have done to date and will resume with new words in March.

Illness: I am away this week due to medical reasons. Fortunately, Miss Hume will be in every day but Thursday this week. If you have any questions or concerns this week please address them to Mrs. Martherus or Miss. Hume.
SK Home Reading: SK home reading books will be exchanged FRIDAY this week instead of Thursday because Miss Hume will be available to do them on Friday.
SK Report Cards: SK students will be getting a report card sent home on Thursday (jk and sk will receive one in June). If you have any questions or comments regarding your child's report card please feel free to call or we can arrange a meeting before or after school (keeping in mind that I am away this week).
Valentine's Day: An updated class list with first names will be sent home this week should your child wish to make Valentines for their classmates. If you and your child choose to participate in this event please ensure they have a valentine for everyone in the class as we don't want anyone feeling left out.
